Applications welcomed for Non-Executive Director

A new Non-Executive Director with a background in financial management and governance at a strategic level is being sought to join the Board of the Trust which runs Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital.

The successful candidate will join The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Board of Directors, helping to steer the organisation’s strategic direction in the coming years.

Non-Executive Directors play a crucial role in providing scrutiny and challenge to the Executive Directors, who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The position has become vacant due to Non-Executive Director, Alastair Findlay’s current term coming to an end in October.

Frank Collins, Chairman of the Oswestry-based hospital, said: “This post is a fantastic opportunity for a financial professional to share their expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of people in the community.

“We are seeking an individual with an excellent track record of achievement within either the public or financial sector, with experience in financial management and governance at a strategic level. The individual will provide additional balance to the existing Board of Directors.

“The Trust’s strategy for the next few years is based upon providing the very best services to our population and also further enhancing our reputation as a national centre of excellence.

“However, there is much to do and the demands on the Board increase from year to year. This is one of the reasons we are looking to make this appointment.

“We anticipate that this new appointment will complement the skill and expertise of our existing Executive and Non-Executive Directors as well as providing an opportunity to develop a more diverse and representative Board of Directors.”

The successful candidate will be expected to commit three days per month to the role, to include attendance at the monthly Board of Directors meetings. They will be paid a salary of £12,241 per year.
