Loyal Therapy Support Worker crowned Health Hero

A dedicated and committed Therapy Support Worker is this month’s winner of the Health Hero Award at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

Sandra Evans, who works in the Therapy Team on the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI), has been announced as the latest winner of the monthly award at today’s Board of Directors meeting.

Sandra was nominated for the award by Stuart Royce, a fellow Therapy Support Worker, who said: “Sandra has been part of the Therapy Team on MCSI for many years now – she is always caring and professional to both patients and staff and always goes the extra mile.

“Not only does she give 100% during work, she also has devoted her own free time to the Disabled Swimming Club before the coronavirus outbreak.

“She is a joy to work with and fully deserving of this award.”

She was presented her award by Stacey Keegan, Chief Nurse and Patient Safety Officer.

Sandra said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Stuart for taking the time to nominate me; I’m honestly speechless and wasn’t expecting it all.

“I’m really lucky to work with a fantastic team and I’m accepting this Health Hero Award on behalf of the whole team.”

The Health Hero Award is presented to staff across the Oswestry-based hospital for going above and beyond to support patients and colleagues.

Stacey said: “I am delighted to present Sandra with the latest Health Hero Award.

“Stuart’s nomination spoke volumes about Sandra’s dedication to our patients and how she consistently goes above and beyond to support them.

“I’d like to give her my congratulations.”
