Pharmacy Homecare Team shortlisted for award

The Pharmacy Homecare team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital have been shortlisted for a Care with Confidence Award hosted by Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

The team at the Oswestry-based hospital visit patients across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Cheshire and Mid and North Wales.

The trio consists of Helen Downes, Pharmacist, Julie Horton, Pharmacy Homecare Technician and Tracey Fuller, Pharmacy Procurement Officer.

The Care with Confidence Awards are designed to recognise people and teams who have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional health care services for Telford and Wrekin.

The Homecare team have spent a lot of time improving the service they offer which prompted Tracey to nominate the team for the award.

Tracy said: “We have recently redeveloped the process in managing our homecare patients.

“We’ve completely transformed the old procedures for homecare prescriptions which has provided more clarity and allowed us to prioritize workflow.”

Julie added: “One of our main objectives was to improve how we communicate with the CCG.

“Our relationship has definitely improved which has resulted in prescriptions being processed in a timely manner and therefore better care for our patients.”

Helen said: “We have absolutely achieved a more streamlined and coordinated service.

“We serve over 1,000 patients across such a wide area, so it was vital we improved our systems and made it more seamless.”

Bev Tabernacle, Director of Nursing at RJAH, said: “I’d like to congratulate the Pharmacy Homecare team for being shortlisted for this award, but also for successfully transforming the service.

“A lot of hard work and dedication would have gone into redesigning how the team operate which is a massive achievement in itself.

“They have definitely risen to the challenges they faced previously and are now providing the best possible experience for the patients – they should be very proud.”

The trio, along with Wendy Mayne, Pharmacy Technician Specialist, will attend the ceremony on Tuesday 12 September where the winners will be announced.
