Radiographer Laura hailed a Health Hero

Radiographer Laura Edwards has been hailed as a role model to colleagues – as she was presented with the latest Health Hero Award at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.

Laura was nominated by 16 of her colleagues for the monthly prize, and all of them commented on her tireless commitment and her outstanding patient care.

She was presented with her award by Chief Executive Mark Brandreth, who announced the winner at today’s monthly meeting of the Board of Directors.

Nicola Reddicliffe, one of the radiographers who nominated Laura, said: “She works tirelessly in the department, motivates all staff and is kind and caring.

“She’s a great role model and her patient care is excellent.

“Laura goes above and beyond in her role,” added Nicola. “She’s also a fantastic student mentor, and a real fountain of knowledge.”

Laura said: “I really wasn’t expecting this, I didn’t even know I’d been nominated so I’m very touched.

“Our patients come first, so to be praised for patient care is lovely.

“I’d like to thank my colleagues for their nominations, I work with a lovely team of people, so I must give them a mention.”

Mark Brandreth was delighted to be presenting the award to one of the Trust’s radiographers’ having previously awarded it to nurses, Healthcare Assistants, doctors and therapists, as well as non-clinical colleagues including a departmental receptionist, a Maintenance Assistant and a Catering Assistant.

Mark said: “Our radiographers play a key role in the delivery of patient care. Theirs is a department which is always busy, but they maintain high standards at all times.

“Laura epitomises those high standards and we are proud and delighted to have her working for us here at RJAH.”
