Stores Assistant latest Health Hero winner for commitment to patient experience

A committed member of a ‘well-oiled’ team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital is the latest recipient of the Health Hero Award.

Mike Bartholomew, who works in Stores, is the latest staff member at the Oswestry-based hospital to receive the monthly award.

The Stores Assistant, who primarily delivers supplies to the Theatres department, received two nominations from Martine Williams, Facilities Manager, and Mark Evans, Stores Supervisor.

Martine said: “I am very proud to be Mike’s manager; he often goes above and beyond to keep Theatres running smoothly and is a fantastic representative of the Trusts values.

“He’s such a kind and considerate man who, throughout the years, has helped me enormously.”

Mark said: “Recently, Mike was due to take a week’s annual leave however decided to cancel this to ensure the service to Theatres continues seamlessly.

“He is extremely dedicated to RJAH and the experience of our patients.”

His award was presented to him by Mark Brandreth, Chief Executive, and announced today at the monthly Board of Directors meeting.

Fresh fruit and vegetable company, Box of Goodness, also donated a box of their produce to Mike, as they do to every winner.

Mike said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be the latest Health Hero winner – it was a real surprise but I’m extremely grateful to Martine and Mark for nominating me.

“I work in a great team and couldn’t do it without them.”

Mark said: “Its clear Mike is an integral part of the Stores team, who are often an unseen service. Without them, many staff members across the Trust would not be able to do their job.

“He is a very deserving winner of the Health Hero Award.”
