Staff Self-Testing

Regular testing of asymptomatic NHS staff has now launched to support the NHS to control infection, reduce staff absence and support covid-19 and non covid-19 clinical pathways.

The testing uses lateral flow devices on nasal swab samples.

Important info for Shropshire vaccination staff recruited by RJAH – Vaccination staff are to follow the same process as RJAH staff members, with regards to collecitng their testing kits. Kits can be collected any day from RJAH Switchboard. Please access the site through the main entrance showing staff at the desk your Trust ID.

As a reminder: a staff member who has tested positive for Covid-19 will be unable to start self-testing for at least 90 days after their positive test was taken.

How to get your lateral flow test kit

The first step is to complete the covid registration and consent forms by clicking here. [You will not be able to access your box of tests without completing this step].

Prior to the collection of the boxes, teams are encouraged to discuss when each individual will be collecting theirs to ensure that they are spread out across the week, and complete the tests on different days.

Where to collect your tests from

Your testing box can be collected from Switchboard.

Please ensure you bring with you your staff ID badge and staff payroll number. Testing boxes will not be allocated without both forms of identification.

In order to reduce the number of staff moving across the Trust, colleagues can collect boxes on behalf of their team members. If you are collecting boxes for colleagues, please provide their name and payroll number. If collecting on behalf of colleagues, you must also bring along with you this lateral flow test collection form, printed and filled out with the names and payroll numbers of those staff members.

The testing boxes can be collected at any time.

Appointments to collect your box isn’t necessary, but please be aware that there will be certain times during the day where demand for collections will be higher.

When arriving please ensure you maintain social distancing at all times.

How to submit your test results

After you have completed your test, you will need to submit your result - positive or negative - by filling out this form by clicking here.

The lateral flow test has shown to be up to 80% accurate. If you test positive, you will be asked to tell us straight away, self-isolate and you will then be referred for the standard PCR test to confirm that result. You will need to tell us by calling our People Services Absence Reporting Line on 01691 404467 – this is the same one used at present to report any absence or to request a covid test, if you are displaying symptoms.
