Childrens' Unit

 

Led by experienced paediatric orthopaedic consultants, we provide specialist advice, diagnosis and treatment for children between 0 – 18 years. The team also treats young adults with ongoing problems related to childhood conditions.

Treatment is offered for the whole spectrum of bone, joint and muscular disorders during childhood, including treatment of the following:

  • Spinal deformity

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Myelomeningocele

  • Muscular dystrophy

  • Congenital hip dislocation

  • Developmental dysplasia of the hip

  • Club Foot

  • Leg length discrepancy

  • Rheumatology

  • Limb deficiency and prosthetics

  • Skeletal dysplasia

  • Sports Injuries

  • Foot problems

Specialist staff

The nursing team includes specialist paediatric orthopaedic nurses who provide dedicated care for the duration of your child’s visit to the hospital. Our Childrens' Orthopaedic Therapy Team are all members of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and will help your child mobilise after their surgery.
 

Visiting Children's Outpatients Department

Paediatric patients who need to attend an appointment are being asked to visit Children's Outpatients with one parent or carer. 

It's important to reduce the number of people through the doors of the hospital, in a bid to protect staff and patients.
