Other information:
Mr Steve White is also the Medical Director at RJAH (since 2012).
After graduating from the University at Nottingham, Steve trained at Bristol and Oxford. He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1993 specialising in knee surgery. In research, he has published widely on anteromedial osteoarthritis and its treatment by partial knee replacement. He has held a variety of leadership roles over the years for example in teaching and training, leading the Trauma service, the Knee and Sports injury Firm and a period as Director of Surgery.
Steve encourages doctors, many of whom have the classic attributes of “memory, logic and imagination” to lead, but emphasizes that everyone in management needs to recognise the five common heuristics and biases that so easily impact on decision making. With greater insight, and a shared purpose, clinical and non-clinical managers can work harmoniously to continuously improve patient care.
