SOOS FAQs

What will happen at my first appointment?

The clinician will introduce themselves and show you to an individual clinic room. They will ask you a variety of specific questions and then examine you to find out what is wrong.

Further diagnostic tests may be required and the clinician will refer you for these after discussion with you.

Once the assessment is completed the clinician will explain the problem you have and advise you on the management options.

The options may include advice on self -management and exercises, injections, acupuncture, provision of aids etc. Referral to a hospital consultant may also be indicated.

If another SOOS appointment is required, this will be arranged before you leave. This appointment may be with the clinician you have seen or another from the team depending on the problem you have.

What should I wear to my appointment?

It doesn't matter what you wear but you may need to undress down to your underwear if this is necessary to examine and treat your injury or condition. If you are coming for treatment to your leg(s) please bring shorts or a loose-fitting skirt with you.

3. What should you bring with you?

If you are on medication a detailed list of this current medication may be helpful.
