Clinical Placements

RJAH is a centre of excellence that is passionate about facilitating an excellent learning experience.

We offer clinical placements for Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy (OT), Radiology and Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) students from a number of universities including Keele, Staffordshire, Glyndwr, Chester and Birmingham.

During September 2017 - September 2018, we welcomed more than 170 Nursing placements and over 160 Allied Health Professional (AHP) students, including Physio's, OTs, Radiology and ODPs.

We also have more than 160 Nurse Mentors in practice who support our Student Nurses and over 60 Practice Educators who support our Student AHPs.

Student feedback

"All the staff were amazing, very welcoming and respectful of having student Nurses. I was able to delegate effectively and felt like a huge part of their team. I was able to help other Student Nurses on the ward and had time to practice skills with other students. I was also able to admit and discharge patients whilst being observed.” Nursing Student

"I gained a lot of experience during this placement which allowed me to have the opportunity to provide treatment for patients after surgery. Educators, members of the Physiotherapy team and multi-disciplinary team members helped me a lot during my placement." Physiotherapy Student

"My first surgical placement was great. My mentor really looked out for me and made me feel part of the team." ODP Student

University feedback

"I would like to pass on our appreciation for the time spent working with our students. There have been high levels of success amongst our students in terms of their clinical assessments, and this couldn't happen without the hard work and dedication of the clinical mentors and assessors working with them during their placement, and we thank you for your efforts." Senior Lecturer and Clinical Placement Co-ordinator for Radiology, Birmingham Ciy University.
