Work Experience

RJAH offer work experience placements in various settings within the organisation.  All placement offers are offered subject to service demands and pressures and therefore alternative placements may need to be offered to accommodate placement requests.  

Work Experience placements

Work experience placements are available at the Trust for anyone aged 14 years and over.

The Trust is able to offer a one week placement for GCSE, A-Level and BTEC students in one of the following areas:
  • Catering Department
  • Administrative
  • X-Ray Porters
  • Ward Based - please note: Alice Ward will only offer work experience placements to students on a recognised Health and Social care course and to students aged over 18 years old only.
  • Medical Taster - please note: for students 16 years old and over only.
  • Research - please note: for students 16 years old and over only. Placements may not be available for the dates specificed below - please contact the team for more information.  

The dates we are able to offer a work experience placement in any of the areas listed above in are as follows:


  • 16 - 20 December


  • 17 - 21 February
  • 25 - 29 May
  • 29 June - 3 July
  • 6 - 10 July
  • 24 - 28 August
  • 26 - 30 October
  • 7 - 11 December

The Trust will only offer work experience placements for the dates specified above.  No other placement dates will be available.
Students from schools in the local area will take precedence for placements and all placements will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

We can only accommodate BTEC students on the specified work experience weeks and no other placement dates can be accommodated. 


Specific Work Experience

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
We offer placements in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for students who are aged 16 years and older and need the placement to assist with their application for relevant courses in higher education.
We can only offer a two day placement in Physiotherapy and a one day placement in Occupational Therapy.
Please complete the application form and return the completed form directly to People Services.
The Trust reserves the right to cancel placements at short notice due to service pressures.  No placements will be offered to anyone under the age of 14 years old or who is currently a patient at the Trust.  We welcome students from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities.
