Work Experience

This page provides details about work experience opportunities at the Trust.
The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offer work experience placements in various settings within the Trust.  All placement offers are offered subject to service demands and pressures and therefore alternative placements may need to be offered to accommodate placement requests.  
N.B. Alice Ward will only offer work experience placements to students on a recognised Health and Social care course and to students aged over 18 years old only.

Generic Work Experience placements

Work experience placements are available at the Trust for anyone aged 14 years and over.
The Trust is able to offer a one week placement in one of the following areas.  Please note that students from schools in the locality will take precedence for placements.  All placements will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
  • Catering Department
  • Administrative
  • Ward Based
  • Medical Taster (16+)
  • X Ray Porters
  • Research (16+)
  • Physiotherapy (16+) - two day placement only, dates not applicable to those below
  • Occupational Therapy - one day placement only, dates not limited to those below

The dates we are able to offer a work experience placement in any of the areas listed above in are as follows:

  • 25 February - 1 March 2019
  • 29 April - 3 May 2019
  • 1 - 5 July 2019 - fully booked
  • 8 - 12 July 2019 - fully booked
  • 19 - 23 August 2019
  • 21 - 25 October 2019
  • 16 - 20 December 2019

Please note that Research placements may not be available for all of the above dates - we suggest that you enquire as to availability before applying.

Specific work experience in the Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy Departments

Students who require a work placement to assist with their application to relevant courses in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy in higher education establishments should complete the application form and return the completed form directly to Human Resources Department.
Placements will only be offered to persons aged 16 years and above, and will only be for students on the relevant courses mentioned above.  All students will be formally notified if requests for a placement can be accommodated or not.



BTEC Students

We can only accommodate BTEC students on the specified work experience weeks and  no other placement can be accommodated. 

The Trust reserves the right to cancel placements at short notice due to service pressures.  No placements will be offered to anyone under the age of 14 years old or who is currently a patient at the Trust.  We welcome students from diverse backgrounds and with disabilities.
